Why take this tour?
The Ultimate Kauaʻi Adventure
Looking to test your strength and endurance? Or simply allow for the maximum amount of time to explore Kauaʻi at your own pace? This is the tour for you!
We make the most of our time together by meeting on the North, East, South, or West Side of the island to do a driving tour with one or more shorter hikes along the way. Options include a driving tour to check out some of the East Side and/or North Shores’ most famous waterfalls, beaches, and lookouts. Stop at an “ono” (tasty) local establishment for lunch or snacks. You will have an opportunity to discuss your specific interests directly with your guide before the tour.
OR
We will journey through historic “Hanapēpē Town” on the western (or “leeward”) side of the island, the launching off point to explore Waimea Canyon and Kōkeʻe State Park(s). Options for hikes and sites to see in these two parks is limitless – they include areas of diverse vegetation, fauna, and terrain. Hikes can vary in difficulty from easy to strenuous, with trails ranging from wide and well-maintained to more moderate bush-whackin’ adventures. From ridge top hikes high above the Nāpali Coast to equally stunning views along the rim of Waimea Canyon. With an Over The Top Kaua’i Adventure you will have time for it all!
Take the time to observe rare forest birds and plants seen no where else on earth (many species endemic only to Kauaʻi). The tour is tailored to your specific individual needs. Your guide will help select trail(s) and locations perfect you – fully adjustable during the tour according to your groups’ energy level, the weather, and local trail conditions. Much can be seen in this area, it is well worth having the extra time to see as much as possible!
Waimea/Kōkeʻe tours include a scenic drive of at least one hour each way (a little longer taking into account stopping at the choicest overlooks along the way). Our guests love this scenic drive and stopping on top of the mountain at rustic Kōkeʻe Lodge for a delicious lunch.
Please keep in mind that tour durations begin when you meet your guide until you part ways. If you need a pick up or drop off this extra driving time, including traffic, should be incorporated into the duration of tour you select. If this is an issue for you, you may want to select a tour area closer to where you are staying. In most cases your tour can be extended even longer, and the price adjusted proportionately after your tour, if you let us know during the tour.
When you hike with a guide, your experience is much safer, deeper, and more satisfying. The expertise of our local guides can point out and explain things you would not have seen or known about on your own. They are happy to share places that wouldn’t have been on your radar and take you to areas of tremendous beauty.
Being surrounded by nature is our goal, and we aim to make your day with us the highlights of your trip on Kauaʻi. Utilizing tools such as specialized hiking equipment, 4×4 vehicles (as needed), and first aid training/equipment will ensure you have the safest, most enjoyable, time possible. So book today and leave the planning to us. Let the enjoyment of being in nature with a trusted guide be our service to you!

Private Scenic Helicopter Tour + Waimea Canyon Hike (Fly Both Ways)
Experience Kauaʻi’s most exclusive land-and-air adventure. This fully private tour combines two breathtaking helicopter flights with a customized day of hiking, sightseeing, and exploration in Waimea Canyon and Kōkeʻe State Park. Your journey begins with an 8:00 AM private helicopter departure from Princeville Airport (7:15 AM latest check-in). Soar above Hanalei Valley, Waiʻaleʻale Crater, “Jurassic Park Falls,” and the island’s interior before landing at a private West Side airstrip, where your expert hiking guide awaits. Spend approximately 7.5 hours exploring the dramatic landscapes of Waimea Canyon and Kōkeʻe. Choose how active you want the day to be: gentle forest walks, panoramic canyon rim lookouts, hidden viewpoints, or more adventurous ridge trails. An optional stop for lunch at the historic Kōkeʻe Lodge is available. Waimea Canyon and Kōkeʻe are home to some of Hawaiʻi’s most spectacular scenery—towering canyon walls, high-elevation forests, sweeping Nāpali Coast vistas, native plants, and rare endemic birds found nowhere else on Earth. Your private return flight in the afternoon provides a spectacular finale, tracing the canyon and coastline you explored on foot and offering a final aerial sweep of Kauaʻi’s wild beauty.

Island Survival Skills
We will meet at a roadside fruit stand off of Kuhio Hwy at 8:30 am. The fruit stand opens at 7:30 am – if you get there early you can order coffee, a smoothie, or something for breakfast. From the fruit stand we will caravan about 10 minutes down the road to a parking area next to our activity location – an undeveloped stretch of coastline with access to the beach, ocean, and coastal forests. Once there, we will circle up under the shade of ironwood trees to introduce ourselves and check in about what we will be doing for the next several hours. Activities will vary depending on weather conditions that day and the interest of the group. Potential topics include: 1) Survival fire making 2) Nature observation & wildlife tracking 3) Nature meditation & observation skills 4) Foraging for food and studying medicinal or otherwise useful plants 5) Rope & cordage making 6) Survival shelter building 7) Primitive fish & animal traps 8) Water procurement & filtration 9) The art of camouflage 10) Survival pack essentials Throughout this experience we will invite you to use your senses to tap into the rhythms of nature – fine tuning your innate observational skills to pick up on the, at times subtle, information nature is always giving us. These might come to you via a new sight, sound, smell, and/or sensation. At noon we will circle up again for a check-in / closing circle.
